They are feeling it...!

The pressure. Well, they are.

Major indicator, Minister Nsaba Buturo has come out with a statement. Good. And know what he says? After defending corruption in the Government, (an argument which no Ugandan above the age of 16 will believe... Fact. None of us IS that gullible), he then tackles the 'Kill Gay Bill'.

Apparently, Uganda is a democratic country, which has a democratic process, which allows the orderly presentation of a bill to kill some of her citizens. As long as they were born homosexuals, that is. And, the world must look on, and respect our sovereign sovereignty!

Had to beat. So, World, you must look on. As you looked on in Nazi Germany. Kosovo. Rwanda. Kenya. Cambodia.

We are a sovereign nation, and, you must respect our sovereign right to kill some of our citizens. Anal sex has no rights. These are just homosexuals. And, if you want to take our your money, then, well, why dont you...

US, continue giving us the PEPFAR dollars. Sweden, Norway, we deserve this money. Well, we have the children who are dying, and we have the women who have no antenatal care. And, you need to give us that money. But YOU MUST NOT DENY OUR SOVEREIGN RIGHT TO KILL OFF AND IMPRISON THOSE OF OUR CITIZENS WHO HAPPEN TO BE HOMOSEXUAL.

That is a worse sin. It is called neo-colonialism.

[Derisive sneer. Of course, when you mention such a thing, they will run off. They are wedded to political correctness]

Ok. I have now to link to the Honourable Minister's Statement. I dont know whether he is still the official government spokesperson, but, this is definately a statement from the government. So, let us read and understand it. And the nuances. Including the undesirability of the homosexual, evil, sinner. But I am repeating myself...!

Maybe, most notable is what the Honourable Minister KNOWS Ugandans think of homosexuality.... I am tempted, and I succumb, let me deposit it just below.

 The people of Uganda believe that practicing anal sex at the expense of heterosexual sex is not a normal practice. Ugandans know or believe that homosexuality involves practices that are dangerous and high risk to the human body which is designed for heterosexual functions. Ugandans also believe that anal sexual intercourse, foreign objects used in sexual intercourse and promiscuity do not deserve to be defended at all. Having said that, it is clear to many of us that the over reaction so far is not surprising to us. Uganda accepts that in some countries it is normal practice for men to sleep with men and women with women. It is often defended that imperatives of human rights defend this practice. We do not believe so in Uganda. Majority of Ugandans hate to see the promotion of illegalities that they consider as dysfunctional, abnormal and unhealthy.

Wow, here is one Ugandan who doesnt think so... Well, of course he is mad, and one of those that you want to send to prison. I had forgotten.

I agree, they are feeling the Heat.

The pressure is being felt. In other places. And, I have to say that it is important. For those Christians who havent yet spoken out to oppose this law, I invite you to look at it. It says everything for itself. And, you will then tell me, in un-parsed words, why a Church, that espouses love, goes ahead to, have no comment, or actively support it.

Don Schmierer signed onto the Exodus statement. He is the guy from Exodus, one of the Three Musketeers, who came to teach Ugandans the virtues of hating homosexuals. Sorry, what the Homosexual Agenda was, and how to resist it. He came this year, and had a quite succesful three day conference. So succesful, that his acoylytes are going ahead to wipe out homosexuals from Uganda. Sigh, he is sorry????

And, International Healing Foundation, the organisation to which the Second Musketeer (Brundbridge) belongs, has issued a non statement.... English is not my first language. I am puzzled whether they condemn or support the bill. But you know what, I have some common sense. Say, these guys read the bill, which is freely available. Even here. And, then gave a non-statement statement. Even I can understand that. Check them out at Box Turtle Bulletin.

And, please, continue the outing of the Family. We dont believe it in Uganda. Of course. How can our Dear Leader be dancing to foreign tunes? Only the reviled homosexuals do.
Out them, from that closet. We shall know who we are fighting. And, they are also in Rwanda. Out them. For the good of.... me, of course! Rachel Maddow is going strong on that.

What is Extreme Prophetic? Why are all things fundamentalistic Christian featuring in this mundane anti-homosexuality bill no 18 in the Ugandan parliament? Anyway, this group, Extreme Prophetic is connected to one of the Three Musketeers. I am getting quite confused at the number of the Crusaders that crusaded on this cause. Sorry, I think I made a mistake. But, forgive my confusion. These are American groups, not Ugandan, and, I am told it is a huge continent, but it is thousands of miles from my little bit of the jungle. What the hell do they have to do with my sexuality in Uganda????

Something I had forgotten. Most Christians in Uganda are Catholics. And, the Catholics have a fairly 'progressive' view of homosexuality. At least, they should not want to kill us.
But, the Catholic Church in Uganda is absolutely quiet. Studying the Bill. Letting the Protestants kill themselves off?

I would like to see some pressure on the Catholic Church. To stop their hypocritical silence. See here, a Catholic Cardinal overstepped the statements, expressing his homophobia.
"

Homosexuals and transsexuals will never go to heaven, says a leading cardinal.

In his comments, Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan said Roman Catholic Church still regards homosexuality as an ‘insult to God’, and added people were not born gay, but chose to embrace homosexuality of their own free will.

“Transsexuals and homosexuals will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven and it is not me who says this, but Saint Paul,” the Telegraph quoted Barragan as saying.

“People are not born homosexual, they become homosexual, for different reasons: education issues or because they did not develop their own identity during adolescence,” the 76-year-old added.

He said perhaps they aren’t guilty but by acting against the dignity of the body they will certainly not enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

And, know what, the Vatican comes up with a slap on the hand. A rare one, because, well, they are promoters of homophobia also. [If they are not, why havent they come out to say ANYTHING in Uganda when what is happening is so much against THEIR doctrine?]

Anyway, they come up with this statement.

A Roman Catholic cardinal has drawn on an unusual rebuke from the Vatican

The comments prompted a response from Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi, who said the Web site to which Lozano Barragan spoke should not be considered an authority on Catholic thinking “on complex and delicate issues such as homosexuality.”

 

Current Catholic teaching acknowledges that some people have innate homosexual tendencies but that homosexual acts are “disordered.”

Question, why havent they come up with a statement on Uganda? Doesnt that Bill, the Kill Gay Bill, deviate from their doctrine and teaching? Why are they giving the impression that they are wholly behind the bill? Speak up, or shut up. From a non-believer. Again.

Why? Because these guys will stop the path to kill me in the name of your God. It is as simple as that. Speak up, you churchmen.

The Anti-Gay Agenda in Uganda; Part 2

(The Lies you Teach.)

Being gay is no easy thing. Being gay in Uganda is tough.

The world is tough, for everyone. It tends to be tougher for people who are different. Some of us never accept our sexuality. Many of us do accept, and opt, for one reason or another to live without coming out of the closet. Some of us do, and pay the price.

Being gay, anywhere, is tough. Being gay in a country as homophobic as Uganda is tougher. I know, in large part because I don’t talk about something that I have not experienced. The blood, and sweat, the lies and untruths, they all have been mine. Having come to accept what I am, to understand the mountains of hurt I did myself before, the freedom of self acceptance and self respect, self affirmation; that freedom is particularly sweet. It is so sweet that I get alarmed when people who don’t have an understanding of what I am, aim to hurt me- all in the name of love. And that is, to me, the biggest beef I have against Messrs Don Schmierer, Lee Brundidge, Scott Lively and their friends Ssempa, Langa and Nsaba Buturo.

Lee is a homosexual. He says he has somehow beaten back his same sex attraction. And, I will defend your right to define yourself as you do. If you want to do without love, and understanding, and acceptance, that is fine with me. You are in a group with lots and lots of history. Larry Craig, Ted Haggard, and all the others. (See Leornado, it all comes in handy!)
What I will not have, because it hurts me, is for you to tell lies about that. You may love in secret. You do me harm when you lie that you are cured.

Sure. I do believe you are less than truthful. Why? The truth; I have science to back me up! Amazing, isnt it? Though I know you will rubbish it...

Like most homophobic countries, Uganda is very, very ignorant of homosexuality. Since I am a homosexual, I dare not bask in that ignorance. Long ago, I read Freud and Jung. Trying to understand myself.

I didn’t have resources to do a real search of literature. I didn’t have the funds I have now, and I could only come across the old, discarded texts. I was disappointed. And not happy. No solutions. I was a homosexual, and sick. At least that is what I read in those old books I ferreted in libraries, cast offs, hand me downs; donations from countries far away to schools I attended.

But now, I can point to some very robust reading materials, on and off the net. Solid information about homosexuality and sexuality, which I never had access to, but is current state of the art, and accurate.
For the un-initiated, start with the Wikipedia article on Homosexuality . If you have ever done research, you will understand that it is not good to rely only on Wikipedia. It is a good general resourse. It is not perfect. But it beats a lot of other sources of accurate information.

If you are interested in cutting edge stuf,  check out the Stanford Encyclopaedia of Philosophy's article on Homosexuality.

You ask why I go high powered over the literature landscape? Most of my colleagues and country mates tend to pull out the Bible and Quaran and hurl condemning verses like stones. Helps to know that I don’t believe, am an un-believer. And helps to know that there is some credible research that I can lean against. And it is there. Very good information, for gay and non gay alike. If you want to condemn and hurl stones at me, before I accuse you of being an ignorant bigot, you have to know a bit of the mainstream knowledge about my sexuality that you condemn so vociferously.

On the causation of homosexuality. Well, you can make up your mind. I have listened to people talk about the lack of the homosexual gene. No gene? Maybe. But then you will have to stretch to explain homosexuality in animals other than man.

What is so interesting about these facts, is that Messrs Don Schmierer, Lee Brundidge, Scott Lively and their friends Ssempa, Langa never dared to go into this kind of giving of knowledge. No, this knowledge in truth empowers homosexuals, like me. It takes away their vulnerability to people who tell them that they are bad, un-natural, sick. I remember Ssempa spitting in disgust on live TV, as he describe what he thought was of how bad and sick and dirty homosexuals are.
The knowledge that these gentlemen give, and dare to give is blaming the homosexual’s family, claiming that something went wrong there, and of the need to change, with therapies that hurt us.

Those therapies. There I can go ballistic, and will. Check the next post.

It is liberating that I am gay, and normal. It is liberating to know that there are other homosexuals out there. It is fantastic to know that they have gone through the problems I have experienced, and at last come up feeling liberated, free, high on freedom.

Of course there are homosexuals who are bad, and those who are good. Doesn’t mean that you lie to us that there are none. Ssempa and Langa harp about homosexual rape in school. So help me, heterosexual rape of the under-aged occurs. Defilement, as it is commonly known in Uganda. 

Please, if you in truth dare to love a homosexual, don’t, DO NOT compare us to rapist, drug addicts, sinners. That tarring of us because we are different is one of the worst cases of Christian lack of charity. We are not to blame for the world economic downturn, for Katrina, 9/11 and so on and so forth.

Shame on you Christian, for the lies you tell about me.

The anti-gay Agenda in Uganda: Part 1

The anti-gay campaign is ongoing after the Lively-Langa seminar. I have been hearing of ‘Youth Conferences’ in churches, (Omega Churches); where some of Ssempa’s ex-gays are giving testimonies, of healing? Problem is, we do know some of these people. And, this homosexual is sad because he definitely believes not in the myth of their healing.

I have taken a lot of time to wail and rant. Now, I will say why that has been so. I am not a very effective ‘ranter’ you will agree. But, I can at least try to say why I do rant about the work of Lively/Langa/Ssempa and company in Uganda.

Uganda is a homophobic country. From Museveni the sitting President, ‘Let the CID (Criminal Investigation Department), arrest them.’ (1999), through the Mufti Mubajje ‘Maroon them on an island in Lake Victoria till they die’, Ssempa ‘Of course you cannot give them an HIV prevention programme. Homosexuality is illegal. You don’t do HIV prevention with them.’ and of course the Director General of Uganda AIDS Commission, ‘Gays are one of the drivers of the (HIV) epidemic. But we will not tackle them.’ Yeah, Uganda hates its gay population.

The Minister of Ethics and Integrity has lashed out at us for a long time. ‘Let them get out of the country.’ ‘What was the police doing, not arresting them’, ‘We know them,’ and at the moment, he wants a tougher law, a law which will outlaw being gay. On the statute books is one which specifically punishes homosexual act with 14 years to life in prison. It is a weak law, according to the minister of morals. Because I continue to crow that I have lived with my lover 8 years. And the law has not caught up with me.

So, yes, Uganda does not love her homosexual citizens. Are you asking yourself what our American friends are doing here loving us to death, associating with the likes of Ssempa and Langa who want us in prison and dead of HIV? You ask them that question.

In such an atmosphere they come, to preach their version of god's love for homosexuals. To me it sounds like hate, but I am biased. I am gay, a homosexual.

These American friends have a fair situation for gays in their country. Those who attack homosexuals have a fair chance of being punished for it. Blatant hate speech is questioned, frowned upon. Gays in their country have progressed from a point where they are seen as second class citizens, to the point when at least they can demand equal treatment. Equal treatment, as citizens under the law. I know, all is not perfect and rosy. But, the state of gay rights in the US as compared to Uganda is light years apart.

Lively, the gay lover, lauded Uganda, and Africa in general for resisting the gay agenda. 'Please clap for yourself.' I was on the wall. I gave him the finger, he didnt see it!

So, what have these people who say they love us gay people actually come to do in Uganda? In company with the same people who have been routinely uttering the utterly hateful statements above?

Their intentions were very clear in the advert for the seminar, calling upon parents, legislators, and other influential people.  This is the meeting that they came to promote, these guys who come from the ‘Land of the Free and the brave’

“the seminar will aim at providing insight on the causes and treatment of homosexuality and provide practical tips on how to prevent homosexuality behavior in youth. It will also expose the homosexual agenda, their tactics, strategy and methods of recruitment and provide information and guidelines on how to respond to the homosexual agenda in an organization, community or nation.”

We gay Ugandans have lots and lots of problems. But, another burden is being added to the arsenal of our detractors. Conspiratory theories.

A Gay War is on going. The church on one side. Homosexuals on the other.I know Bolton, Leornado and other friends will not be happy about this, but- my anti-pathy to Christianity was in part due to the push of the Homophobic agenda. For a church that preaches love, for some to preach blatant hate of me and mine, well. Suffice to say that I can and will hit back. With truth as I see it.

A Gay Agenda. The Homosexual agenda. Recruitment. We recruit young people into homosexuality. We don’t want to stop until the whole world is homosexual. “He says that several homosexual groups are active in Uganda and are busy recruiting school boys and girls at an alarming rate using a variety of methods with support from within and outside the country, have well trained activists, who have a clear vision, an agenda and are determined to accomplish their objectives.” 

I have so often heard of this ridiculous assertion that we have this agenda to recruit youths that I am weary of saying we dont. Will it convince Langa and Ssempa when I say we dont? He accuses us of homosexual rape in schools. It is like accusing all heterosexuals of defilement. Are all heteros guilty of defilement in the country? Why is it in their minds that all homosexuals (or gays as we proudly call ourselves), are guilty of homosexual rape of children, pedophilia and Why do you accuse us of those heinious crimes? According to Lively, Homosexual and Paedophile are in the same breath. They are one and the same. (and he says he has friends who are gay!)

We gay Ugandans want freedom from persecution. We dont want the police and local councils to raid our homes simply because we are gay, (the case that we won which has become a rallying call for anti-gays.) Those are the abominable things which Scott, Ssempa and Langa are commited to opposing. Equal rights for gay Ugandans as other Ugandans.

A well funded, well organized homosexual machinery. [My foot!] well funded and well organized homosexual machinery is taking one country after another by de-criminalizing homosexual practices in those countries and legalizing gay marriages in some of them.

Look, Langa, Ssempa and Co. Stop demonizing us. When I ask that I am not sent to jail because I make love to my lover, when I ask for an HIV prevention programme so that I remain free of HIV, when I ask that lies are not told about me and my sexuality- that is not an unfair thing to do. That is basic, down to earth thing. Rights of human beings, which secular humanity would have even my enemies to have.

When these gentlemen from America come to Uganda to fan the fires of anti-gay propaganda, they are simply throwing petrol on fire. The atmosphere in the conference room was incideiry. Some of the good pastors were wondering why the seminar was not advocating for mass arrests, extra-judicial killings, etc. To wipe out the homosexual threat. That is a fact. And the message from the Americans was, well, not so radical. We can do it in a more ‘humane’ way.

Friend, it doesn’t matter how you wield the axe to try to kill or injure me. Either way, I will end up dead. So, the law is a good thing (life in prison for my eight years with my gay lover…) but maybe once we get life in prison, we should also go through some ‘healing’ for our homosexuality? We want our prisoners not to be homosexuals, even when they die. For their moral good.

However much you may want to paint it different, these are supporters and propagators of the only real agenda here. The Propagation of Homophobia Agenda. Propagation of hate for Gay Ugandans.

Yet all these things barely touch the validity and truthfulness of what they are actually teaching. For that I will have to search the net.
