Life is life
Life is life, life’s no politics
But a strange, pulsing bloom
Whose mysteries a lifetime unsolved are;
Nor can they be by one pair of eyes,
One mind be known.
Life’s a liquid bird note call,
The scent of orchid in bloom,
A mysterious night flower unfolding,
A dream with beginning and end-
Going trillion miles between.
Life’s a living moving river
An ocean caught up in wind,
Life’s the soft sunlight in the morning
The blaze of noonday heat,
The dusk with bird and bat call,
Moonscape with stars twinkling aloft;
Life’s a wondrous open dream,
That I will dare to dream this day.

Desire
He looked at me-
wide brown eyes open,
the gaze a physical caress
on my warming cheek;
I waited,
rapt attention
for his mouth to open
a word to say…
He did not-
Neither was it necessary
my mouth to open
words to fashion
For it was all there;
In his eyes, my eyes
the longing and rapture
Desire and need;
all was fully written
On both our faces…

To a Friend. Richard Flynn
I know you not brother,
yet you I know my Brother.
Long is life’s precious dream,
yet too short in meetings;
when never do we use our time
in adequacy to know each other.
To you, from us, Kuchus all,
we thank your awesome heart,
that has given with all its heart
of all that it could and had.
Little else do we have
to return from our bounties.
The fertile soil of our heart
blooms from your tender care;
The limpid quickness of our thought
borrows much from what you gave.
Thank you brother, for your large heart,
Thank you for all you’ve us given,
and from the very heart of
a heart warm, heartfelt thank you.

A Poem for Gerald
A poem dedicated to Gerald. Inspired by his account of the loss of his sister.
I read his account in the morning. Was moved. Thought about it enough to leave a note on his post. Then later, I was seated in my compound. 3 of my nephews were playing around. I thought of their world, as they see it. I thought of Gerald, and, well, the poem came out. Just like that.
When I was young,
the world seemed strange, beautiful,
a never ending amusement park,
of laughter ‘n play, joy ‘n peace;
the world- shielded by parents’ love,
cushioned by lesser understanding
past hunger and thirst,
mum’s smile, Daddy’s great laugh;
that’s the world as is-
garden of beauty,
for young and old, poor and rich,
and yourself too.
May you know the world of love,
in good and bad, gain and loss;
in pleasure and pain-
may you know love.
