More Ex-Gay Charades in Uganda

Did you think that story was ended?

Nay. Still ongoing. Because, we are still gay, and Ugandan, living in Uganda. And, people like Ssempa still claim to love us. In the name of Christ, of course.

Last time, was mostly about George Oundo. But, I did comment that Oundo fell out of Ssempa's camp, didn't I?

Do you think Ssempa would stop there? Not really.

You see, Ssempa is a Christian. And, a Christian pastor. So, he should ideally not be caught in a lie. Nor should he be caught in an act that is blatantly wrong, or evil, or bad.... you get the drift.

So, when George Oundo failed Ssempa, [poor Oundo], Ssempa found a new lieutenant. By the names of Paul Kagaba. He is the one to be blamed for any Ssempa lies now.

I must confess that I don't know much about Kagaba. At least, I didn't know as much as I knew about Oundo.

But, I do know enough [evil grin]. And, Kagaba is a character.

First saw him at a party. Yeah, he was with a lady who was later introduced as his sister/wife? Here, I am into speculation. I never thought to get that relationship down. Was not as interested in gossip as I am now.

Anyway, long story short, Kagaba latched onto an expatriate friend of mine. And, like a leech, seemed to be glued thereon for some time. As in weeks, far as I could tell. As these things happen, the relationship didnt mature, or go much further. [shrug, no blame to anyone], though apparently Kagaba did want to move in with the guy, but... shall we say the feelings were not mutual?

True, for a few days, they were a 'couple'. But, I am not going to be condemned for swearing about what was happening there.

Now, when that relationship dissolved, I was surprised to hear that Kagaba had latched onto a workmate of the expatriate friend. Also happened to be white. And, a woman.

My gossipy conclusion? Paul Kagaba was bisexual. No big deal. Happens all the time. And, most of us must be bisexual in behaviour. To blend into the rest of society.

Only issue was, heard from the grapevine that, Paul was trying to move in with the lady, and the lady was 'very surprised'. Here-say, so, don't make much of that!!!

Anyway, Paul goes back to his boda-boda day job. Personally, I thought he was just trying to outsource ready sources of money. But, again, that is purely conjecture.

Now, when the ex-gay movement came about, Paul Kagaba was in the second wave. Interesting. His was not the charisma of George Oundo, but, he seemed to be a very willing substitute when Oundo went missing.

So, back to the talk shows. With Ssempa by his side. Nodding, nodding, nodding, and confirming whatever Ssempa says.

Yeah, his english is not that great. But, he does understand enough. And, he makes up for the rest by being a very, very good yes man. And, a great liar.

As proof of his 'conversion' to heterosexuality, Paul Kagaba sent to our e-boxes a picture of himself and his 2 year old son.

Beautiful boy. But, I laughed. Because it was interesting to note that the boy was older than the purported time of conversion from 'homosexuality'. Yeah, I do have the pic. Clearly, the child was born long before Paul 'converted' from homosexuality.

But, this pic thing has some very interesting problems.

You remember the expatriate (male) friend that Kagaba used to hang out with? At a seminar in late Sept 2010, Paul Kagaba came to support and nod sagely to Ssempa's assertions about gay people. See, Ssempa would say that all the things that he said, Kagaba had confirmed. So, they must be truths. [Did he confirm the 'eat da poo poo' and licking of anuses?] But, I digress.

Anyway, the seminar. Researchers from Makerere. And, they want to hear from Uganda's prominent anti-gay pastor. Who appears with Paul Kagaba in tow.

Now, I wasnt there....!

But, I am reliably informed that Paul Kagaba pulls out a picture of himself with the male expatriate. According to Kagaba, he was 'married' to this friend of his, during his days in homosexuality. And, that picture was a proof of that. That it was taken at the honeymoon.

No. It was not the usual x-rated offering from Pastor 'eat da poo poo'. Just a tame photo of two guys, one white, another black, grinning into a camera, hands over each others shoulders. No rings. No officiating pastor to the wedding. And, I happen to know that it was NOT in South Africa, the only place where they could have gotten their nuptials celebrated on the continent. It was in Uganda, which has a constitutional ban on same sex marriages since 1995.

 

Maybe the 'proof' was of a white man shamelessly inveigling a black man into a hug? Don't know.

But, that is Paul Kagaba and his ex-gay career.

So, why does he tell the lies?

Curious, curious, but, we would have to ask Paul about that. I know, many other kuchus have some pretty worse opinion of the gentleman that Ssempa has put up as the 'face of ex-gay Uganda'. But, I can only talk about what I have seen.

Yeah, I have heard him asserting that we 'recruit'. He asserted that he was inveigled into homosexuality by one of us, a teacher, when he was a student. He is also the supposed source of accurate information to the red rug, and, more recently, to the 'Rolling Stone'. For some reason that I have not yet known, (have pretty good surmises as to why), Paul Kagaba, under an alias, was offering to be friends to some of us on Facebook. No, I am kidding you not. And, he was a friend to some, till we discovered that it was our profile pics from facebook that ended up in the 'Rolling Stone'.

Paul is very good at some very naked, blunt lies. And, are we believed when we correct them? No way.

Because, Paul always utters those lies with Pastor Dr Ssempa nearby. As his henchman he confirms all the things that Dr Ssempa utters in the purity of his love for the homosexual Ugandan.

Pretty slick, that partnership. But, I am proud to say, Ugandans are slick!!!!!

Ex Gay Charades

Was browsing the web and came across this article.”“Ex-Gay” is Anti-Gay, Disguised as Compassion”

The article is well thought out. And well presented. Tales of wolves dressed in sheep's clothing. So called Christians who will move mountains to hurt people. Just because they believe.

Gay youth do have huge problems growing up in a world that happens to be homophobic. That is a given. But, there are some pretty sophisticated attempts to make sure that they never attain a proper understanding of who and what they are.

But, the situation that they write about is in the US. Suprise, suprise, a similar situation is coming up in Uganda.

Yet, Uganda being Uganda, it is more obvious, more tear jerking. And, the ego and political motivation of the perpetrators of evil is even more obvious.

Back in 2008, one of us, a kuchu, fell into the hands of Pastor Martin 'eat da poo poo' Ssempa. This is always a regretable event. Because, Ssempa's hate of a gay person is so open and violent that you would never wish for one to fall into his hands. Those of us who experience it from afar know that it is terrible.

The guy who fell into Ssempa's hands? George Oundo.

Poor guy. We used to call him Georgina. And, well, in my humble opinion, George is a kuchu. Far as I know. Born, not bred.

Anyway, he falls into Ssempa's hands. Because Ssempa has a charisma that is considerable. He dazzles many with his antics. And, few are the ones mature enough to look past the hate speech, the crocodile tears, the blatant 'come hither' smile and fake compassion that draws youths. He says he has a 'heart for youths'. He has a very political agenda to use them to further his ego.

George Oundo had a chat with Ssempa. Went on to chats, and, he was dazzled. Soon, he was praying hard to turn away from his homosexuality. I met him with books that 'explained everything' as he told me. He thought that he had found salvation. Turned to God. Turned away from the evil of homosexuality. And, found a mentor in Pastor Ssempa.

Now, the people at Exodus will tell you that it takes years, not so?

Pastor Ssempa had George Oundo primed and ready to do his hatchet job within months. Then came the Anti-Homosexuality Seminar that brought Lively and others to Uganda. And, Pastor Ssempa unveiled his weapon of weapons. George Oundo.

He made headlines. A bona fide homosexual. Ugandans had heard of the tribe, but, none had come out to accept that they were.

Oundo reveled in the limelight. He talked about what he had been. And, he talked about what he had become. All in the name of god, of course.

But, Oundo being Oundo, the stories were not enough. Lies to colour and bolster the thin story line were necessary.

The 'Homosexual Agenda' became a reality in his words. He had been a prominent promoter. Now, he was ready to tell all. And, he was given space. On radios, in newspapers. How he went to Nairobi to be trained. How he did 'recruitment'. Curiously, he seemed to have the language of Lively and co down pat.

It became a media frenzy.

And, sadly, George Oundo, finding himself without much to say, leaped onto the chance to 'out' people. All in the name of god. Of course. With the ever gleeful encouragement of the men of god.

Names of prominent people rolled off his tongue. And, the media was titillated. Father Musaala was one of them. And others of course. Yeah, 2009 was a very long first half of the year. I was here. I know. I did live through it.

Yet, it is not Oundo's betrayal which is my subject. Seated to the side of this ex-gay telling all, was none other than Pastor Ssempa. Yes, there were others besides Ssempa. Pastor Male, Pastor Steven Langa, and others. All prominent 'men of god'.

There was a wave of gay people getting 'saved', and confessing to all their misdeeds in the evil time when they were gay. And, always at their sides were the Pastors. Encouraging them to name more names. Yeah, I was named. So was my partner. At rallies, and on fm radios, and on televisions. The stories got juicier and juicier.

Imagine. In dear, deeply homophobic Uganda, ex-gay people were demanded to come out in conferences and religious gatherings to tell all. That, they had been gay. And, they had done horrible things. And, they had been gay with so and so.

I watched one rally on tv. It was Pastor Male then. Brought out these guys before the rally. They were clearly unconfortable. But, the dear Pastor was on rampage. Ready to prove to the world the saving power of his god, and the redeeming power of his love. Sinners, former homosexuals had to confess. And, with much encouragment they did. Before the huge congregation.

Poor condoms. They were used. Thoroughly used. And, dropped to the side.

George Oundo is no longer the face of 'ex-gay Uganda'. Because, he 'backslid', finding the homosexual life too much of a draw. So have many of the others.

Do I pity them? Well, I do have a soft heart. Forged in the fires of Uganda.

But, the question I continue to ask myself is, how merciless are the men of god supposed to be in their fight against homosexuality? They used them, and like condoms, dropped them.

Of course, these guys came in handy in the Pastor Wars. When Pastor Kayanja was accused of being homosexual. And Ssempa, Male and others produced the witnesses. Guys who had gone to them for counselling, and revealed the 'dark side' of Pastor Kayanja.

The police says that the good pastors actually bribed the guys to frame Pastor Kayanja. That is what the police said. Oh yes, this was even more interesting a soap opera because it was real life.

Ex Gay charades? Oh yes.

And, the compassion of pseudo Christians for the lives and well being of homosexuals. Ugh.

Lies were told, and, sanitized and blessed by the men of god. Let aside the 'eat da poo poo', names were named, and, without a thread of evidence, lampooned in the newspapers and everywhere else. Pastor Kayanja was rich enough to take on the anti-gay stampede and slow it to a halt. But, the damage was done.

What of the ex-gays?

From what I hear, George Oundo wants back. But, we are scared of him. He hurt us, in the name of his newly found god of course. But, he did hurt us.

The lies that he told when he knew that they were lies. Don't know what happened to his faith. Don't want to know. His business.

And the others?

This being Uganda, the charades are ongoing. See, Pastor Ssempa is still on his anti-Homosexuality crusade. And, he may not be able to hurt me overtly, but, doesnt mean that he will not try. He still is trying.

And, why, I am still telling this story.

Here is a letter to some of us from dear ex-gay friend (or enemy, from what I gather) Paul Kagaba.

I have decided to lift it just like it was written. The people mentioned have already been outed, so there is no problem having their names on the blog.

Ok, so I didn’t dare modify Paul Kagaba’s email.

But, I wondered at a few things. Not the grammar, though, I bet Paul didn’t ask Ssempa to spell check of course.

• I think he is railing against Reverend Parelli of the ‘Other Sheep’
• Paul Kagaba must have been a very highly successful ‘recruiter’ of homosexuals. In Integrity with Ssenyonjo. And then on the board of SMUG? And, they were recruiting all over Uganda….!
• And, besides recruiting, they were transmitting AIDS. How very, very sad.
• Interesting that Paul the Christian Kagaba is outing people as HIV Positive, as well as gay. Very interesting the way Christian love works.
• When the guy was a homo, he must have been a very self hating one. I cant believe some of the language he uses…’homosexuals are worse than beasts’
• Hey, the JBK hotel thing? Was that recruitment? But, I thought homos recruited heteros? I mean, that, as far as I know was a gathering of kuchus, celebrating Valentine, and love and also their spirituality. I do believe that is what happened. Of course there were no heteros to recruit. At least that is the impression I got.

And, how did they know about it?

I mean, Paul Kagaba, ex-gay. He certainly was not on the invitation list. And, Paul’s God has a solution for that. Yes, he does. That is what Paul Kagaba says.

What do I know about ex-gay Paul Kagaba?

Regretably, very little. But I do know that he was bisexual in behaviour. And, tended to favour those who had some colour (money) to spare. And, the Bazungus of all stripes, for his attention.

Well, he is ex-gay. And a Christian. And,…. he stepped into George Oundo’s shoes when that one reportedly became ex-ex-gay….!

Paul, a word of advice, stop telling lies about kuchus. It hurts you more than it hurts them. You do know that you are telling the lies. And, the kuchus also know that you are telling the lies. It is most likely that Ssempa knows too. But, he is going to encourage you to continue doing so. Because, at the moment, he is getting lots from using you.

When one of us comes out and laughs in your face about the lies that you tell, like what happened one time on UBC television, the egg on your face will be too much for you to survive. Then, you will really understand how bad a ‘friend’ Ssempa is.

A Long post to Wind Up the Year 2009

It is the very last day of the year.

Must say the day is cool. Cold. I don’t remember an end of year with so much rain. Overcast, grey skies, cool in Uganda means 16C. Told you this is a beautiful country, with beautiful weather. I know, some people are suffering with freezing weather. And, they would believe this is summer if it was this hot….!

[Cheeky grin]. I love this country. For its good weather, its beauty, for all the pleasures of being, even when it is tough. I know, many people don’t understand something like that. Being content, feeling good when I should feel bad. Why do I?

Life is a dream. One day, we shall wake up. For the moment, let me dream on.

Yesterday was a day of thought. Not about any new year resolutions. Don’t usually do those. But, the red rug article.

I noticed a few things, like the change of focus from ‘foreign promoters’, to in-house promoters. Of a sudden, we promoters of homosexuality have become rich, ‘city tycoons’…. Able to fund trips abroad, and support the cause in Uganda with our monies. We are rich, we are strong, we are ugly. That is the message from the Ssempa anti-gays.

I have a niggling thought that this blog is a thorn in their side. That, that little fact makes me love to continue. Dude, I love being the child pointing out that nakedness of the Emperor…! [Hans Christian Andersen; The Emperor's New Clothes]

I have not yet received the 20Million US Dollars from Homosexual International. I even went to my bank manager to make sure that the money was really not on my account. I will have to go to Minister Nsaba-Buturo. He was in on the secret….

I am given to understand that Bishop Ssenyonjo of Integrity Uganda has affirmed not receiving that money. Maybe SMUG received it and is holding out on us? I need to ask the guys at SMUG…!

But, I have a better idea. We have some rich ‘city tycoons’ that are funding Homosexual Uganda as we await monies from ‘Homosexual International’. You saw the article, didn’t you? It is in the red rug, and, I had to put it here. Apparently, there are some very rich guys who can tide me over. Of course it will be a loan (but most likely they will not feel the pinch). Who are these rich guys?

They are all in the red rug article. Let me see-

There is an organization called LGBT (if you don’t know that, it’s the acronym for this huge international funding organization Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender). I swear, I am not lying. These guys have money. Lots and lots of money. But, if I understood well the article, they are some of the people who might have sent the 20Million that I am waiting for. The Swedes, well, they have to first pass the Anti-Homosexual Bill in parliament, then the Swedes will cut off aid, and, presumably line our pockets. [Sigh, the new year plans to be extremely rich! The bill will become law. You watch this space]

But, there are some rich local folks that I can rely on. They should be willing to tide me over. In the name of homosexual international cause, of course. And, when the money comes, of course I will refund them.

The Manager with Bata, and, what about the rich, high profile doctor? That one surely? Shelling out a few miserly shillings to tide over poor gug. (Some people say I should be able to migrate from Google’s blogspot, with all that backing…!). There is also the rich city ‘image’? The guy from a rich communication company. Should be a top echelon officer that. He funded a trip to Nairobi.

I am pretty sure God and Kar should be able to help.

Except that I thought god was supposedly in heaven?

Sincerely, some of this stuff should be put in a thriller. Set in Uganda, like the ‘Last King of Scotland’. I am pretty sure we can win some more Oscars. I think the star should be Paul Kagaba, the enstranged Gay Uganda spokes person.

Hey, why Gay Uganda spokes person? I thought Kagaba was ex-gay? Oh, I am pretty sure that he is. So, he is the one spilling the information? Careful, careful. I am warning the Red rug about Kagaba. Of course I know the guy. How much was he given for the story? How much is he being bank rolled for being ex-gay and a happy father now? Careful, careful. Because, I think Kagaba and Oundo have the same thing in common. Figure out what that is, Ssempa!

Of course I am gay, and a lying pervert.

Let us turn to less hilarious news. (I do know, many people believe the things that are written in the red rug as gospel truth….!) But, that stuff is ‘reader beware stuff.’ No more comments. My mouth is zipped.

The Ssempa crusade against homosexuality, a Million person march on Kampala is being announced. Tonight, I might take a chance and peek into Namboole. I bet Ssempa will be there. I bet he will promote the March against Homosexuality. Here is the Monitor article. (And, if the article is moved, I am not putting it anywhere else. I don’t know how to solve the case of the disappearing Monitor articles.) For those who don’t know, there is a huge new year’s day programme in Namboole Stadium. The faithful gather there, and, most likely they will today. Even the president cant help attending, this eve of an election year…! I bet there might be upto 60-80 thousand Ugandans packed in that stadium tonight. I know, it is only a 40 thousand seater, but I am pretty sure I am making a conservative estimate.

Someone pointed out to me that this article on Debunking lies may not be gospel truth. I am pretty sure of the source, but, I am checking….

[Sniff, it will be very highly embarrassing for me to say that Ssempa is lying, and then it turns out I am the one who is mistaken…!] Anyway, I deal in truth. That is my major weapon. And, because of that, I may lose this fight but will win this war. So, just a word of caution. I am so sure that it is right, that I am actually leaving it up. Posted. If it is proven wrong, I will announce it, out to the world, that I lied, and Ssempa didn’t. It will be very sweet victory for him.

And, I hadn’t seen this article putting pressure on MPs to vote for the Bahati Bill. Vote or be voted out. We have become the American Right. But, of course I am mistaken...!

Now, that stuff is out of the way. Good.

Today, the last day of the year, this is what I plan.

To lie down and rest and look up at the skies, especially when they clear in the afternoon. I plan to go out and watch the fireworks. If you hear of me at Namboole, why, I am a famous dude. Imagine me, one in the middle of that mass of humanity. One of sixty thousand. Ugh! Only problem is if they can identify me. That can turn pretty deadly. But don’t you worry. I have the power to turn invisible, at a whisk of my deadly, venomous, homosexual tail. I will fly out over them, and they will be oblivious of me.

Hey all, this year has been eventful. Next year plans to be very interesting. The demonstration against homosexuality is on the 19^th of Jan. (Or 20^th?). I love you all. I really love you all.

Please do enjoy this last day of the year. People here in Uganda cannot wish one a happy new year until one is into the new year. A superstitious thing, that, but that is what society is built on.

So, from me, gug, do wind up this year in peace, in love, in laughter. Welcome the new year with lots of fire and funfare. Be good, (like I would never, ever be…!) And, enjoy the last minutes of the year roll by.

PS. Uganda is a very, very unique country. Can you imagine all the sermons on Christmas day being dominated by the vice of Homosexuality? And, this was only in the city.

Hypocrisy.

Sometimes I am a hypocrite. Other times I get flabbergasted by the hypocrisy of some people. Dear George Oundo.

Remember, he was chucked out of ‘ex gay Uganda’ for being, well, ex-ex-gay? According to the ‘red rug’ he held a press conference which confused most of the press people. It was gate crushed by the ‘real ex gay Ugandans’. Oh, he was telling all and sundry how bad dear Martin Ssempa is. Only the red rug published the happenings. The other news orgs were kind of leary. Don’t know why. Could be something to do with the whole ‘Ssempa-Oundo’ saga. But the last of that story is not yet written.

Dear George is sending us text messages. He happens to send them every now and then, in his special dialect of the ‘Queen’s English’. Anyway, here is one of them. Yeah, let me do him a doubtable favor.

Ex Gay

When I heard the news about George Oundo, I was stuck by one thing.

Ok, has been on my mind a lot. Not the glee about Ssempa being bitten by Oundo. Nor the fact that I had predicted it. But by who made the announcement. Paul Kagaba, as Chairman of a group called ‘Ex Gay Uganda’.

It may be no coincidence that the name is a derivative of this blog. Morbid fame, of a sort.

But there is something underneath, something morbidly funny about what Ssempa has done.

George Oundo, aka ‘Georgina’ was a flaming queen of queens.

I wish I had a photo of him in his regalia. A flaming, shocking homosexual. Shocking to the eyes, happy to play on that shock value in his life. He played on it. When most of us were hiding our sexuality to the best of our ability, he was out there, showing it to the world. Oh, that was George. The real, natural, uncamouflaged George Oundo.

Ssempa took this individual, and accepted that in about a month of conversations with him, he became heterosexual. In another month, he had turned him into an activist, for the anti-gay agenda.

Truth is, George Oundo in this case has also been a victim. Of Ssempa’s over weaning ambition. A willing, and paid up victim. But a victim.

Ssempa should know enough (bar his lack of good common sense), that a ‘homosexual’ cannot become heterosexual, at the snap of Ssempa’s finger. I know that I cannot become heterosexual. I trust medical science enough. I mean, I cannot believe that major scientific societies can go out of their way to affirm that I cannot be ‘cured’ of homosexuality. They have studied what I am. They have had a lot of time, data and human history to come to a conclusion. Ssempa negated all that history.

I have read histories of ‘ex-gay’ people.

And, I know my own history. Yes, once upon a time, soon after coming to terms with the fact that I was homosexual, the over aching desire of my heart was to win free of this curse. I saw it as a curse. That was me, at that time.

I was a Christian. I prayed. I fasted. I cut myself off all manifestations of sexuality. I ‘believed’ that I could be healed, and that I was healed of this cancerous manifestation of sin in my weak body. I was deceived. I was self deceiving.

And, I have read the histories of ‘ex-ex-gay’ people. We are all human beings. And, if we are true to ourselves, it is not hard to understand the kind of hell a person can, and will go through, trying to deny his or her normal, god endowed sexuality in the name of a mirage. We are human. And for the sake of the ideals we believe in, we shall try.

I don’t blame nobody for trying. I tried myself. And failed.

But I am not happy with anyone who convinces others that one will succed. In the name of God. That is a blasphemy, of the highest order.

Anyway, Ssempa was convinced that he had achieved this miracle with George Oundo in about a month. (Even Exodus International would not declare success in less than a couple of years!!!!! A miracle indeed.)

But then came the most shameless exploitation of a vulnerable person for the sake of another political ambitions.

Dear Pastor Ssempa took the new George, the ‘healed’ George, and started parading him on television, on fm radio, at rallies, and in church. He had a huge story to tell. How he was snared into homosexuality. How he was snaring others into homosexuality. How he was healed. George didn’t have much to say, beyond that. George being George, started coming up with some fantasies. (Truth to tell, he was in a situation where, fed by what the others believed, he just had to ‘confirm’, their prejudices, and he would be believed. Even when telling huge, self evident lies. He was simply the concrete evidence that they had been looking for. And they didn’t question this free food on a platter. Even when they were ‘paying’ for it. Wonder why these fools were led to believe the conman who led them down the Kayanja path?.) There was a ‘Homosexual Agenda’. It was being funded by big donors from outside the country. There was lots of money being spent on it, up to a million Uganda shillings a day. He had gone to Nairobi for training. Recruitment was being done in schools and universities. etc, etc, etc.

The more the spotlight grew on him, the happier the anti-gay movement was. Their god breathed, god blessed plan was going on. George told lies. I protested about them on this blog, and wondered how it was possible to believe these naked lies. But I cant be believed. Because I am gay, and an unrepentant one. One anonymous commentor who engaged me a lot castigated me to let George tell his story.

Well, George did tell his story.

And, he was sending us sms messages telling us how he was starving. Sexually. Problem was, no one at that time wanted to be known as knowing the premier homosexual of Uganda. Reformed homosexual, that was. Not even his stable of boys, many of who, at that time, he had led to Ssempa. And they had sworn to being cured, also.

Er, the craze was a big thing. People were being cured, left right and centre. Some of us were being blackmailed or extorted. Dear George is not a very nice character, as a matter of fact. And, the price to pay for being kept out of the newspapers was to cater to his lifestyle. His new celebrity status.

The pendulum swung. Reached its zenith, and swung back.

Slowly, but surely, George’s true nature has come up.

Poor Ssempa. Stung by the one he paid to smear Kayanja, and now by George Oundo, the prince of ex-gays. The result was as inevitable as inevitable.

Poor George Oundo. Reaping the results of his self deception. Maybe I shouldn’t pity him in anyway. Stupidity has its own rewards. And there is a reward in being honest with one’s self. It is called self respect.

Pity the other guys, the ones collected in the group ‘Ex Gay Uganda’. Pity them, for they are at the mercy of a shameless, power hungry politician. They may never know it, but they will dance to the strings of Pastor Ssempa until they fall. Pity Paul Kagaba, who is in it for the money and nothing else.

ugh, pity gug, for salivating over the fall of an enemy!!!!! Oh well, forgive me, but I was realy hurt by Ssempa, Oundo and co. They hurt me in more ways than one. Have to remember, and release some of that venom. Of course, some of the scars are permanent. But that is life. We fall, get up, move on. That is life.

George Oundo is now Ex-ex-Gay

Good God in Heaven!!!!!

It is not seemly to be happy when an enemy falls, and falls heavily, but you will forgive my unseemly glee.

Remember George Oundo?

The ex-gay man. Ex-gay, and very vocal Ssempa activist. A truly Ssempa activist, shouting, outing, castigating, and telling people how he slept with so and so. Including a famous ‘priest’. He accused us of so many heinous things that… Which good old Ugandans couldn’t help believing. What can a homosexual not be capable of? As a reward to his fervency, he was given a house to stay in. And, wonder of wonders, he has been expelled from the Ex-Gay Uganda group. Problem?

Ah, glee on my part, the problem is that, this guy, who is the face of the Ex-gay movement here, who has gone around telling people that we ‘recruit’ and have a vice, and other nerferious things. Well, he has turned out to be ex-ex-gay. Still wants the lusts of the flesh. In the direction that the good Lord blessed him with.

According to Paul Kagaba, Ex-Gay Uganda Chairman, Oundo was taking boys to be ‘sodomised’ to his house. What I could have told Kagaba, and I have known for a few weeks, is that Oundo has been going around asking kuchus for ‘forgiveness’.

That news was on Capital FM. Just heard it. And, in my glee, had to blog about it.

Time to say ‘I told you so’

First to Ssempa. Well, told you that you were not very bright. Burnt by Sam Mukasa, the Kayanja accuser, and now burnt by your darling George Oundo.

Cant believe what Ssempa is thinking at the moment. I mean, he was on such a roll, that the trough must be a little giddy. He had made Oundo into something huge. Going the rounds, talking, talking, on TV, radio, at anti-homosexual rallies. And all the time the hypocrite was quietly doing what he was publicly abusing.

Good for you Oundo.

In previous posts I warned Ssempa. And I warned others. Oundo was, and is poison. Course he is gay. A queen, through and through. Ugh, you think he will change again? He will change back. Of that I am sure.

And, some more predictions. Mr Paul Kagaba? Ex-Gay Chairman… I am predicting that it is money for him. Money, money, the bucks. Watch and see. I do know him. Why, I saw him at my favorite bar last week, and am more or less sure that he was on cruising. Ha ha ha!

Oh, my nose. Have to blow it. Heavily.

Gathered more info. The usual kuchu circles… Apparently, George was caught in ‘red handed’. But that would mean that the good Pastor Ssempa should be reporting him to police, doesn’t it? I will keep one ear to the ground…!

Fascinating

 

What does one do when the enemy seems intent on scoring own-goals?

You sit back, and laugh and cheer- because it is an incredible sight.

It is so in Uganda at the moment. Anyway, for those of us who seem to be fascinated by the vagaries of (my) sexual orientation. Ssempa and Co, are particularly interesting in this anti-gay pursuit. The fight of fights, the fight of the century.

Not everybody believed them when they started. They have held conferences, they have held press conferences. They have accused gay activists of everything from ‘recruitment’ to eating children alive. We are a clear and present danger.

But that was not enough.

A witch hunt was started. Most of us gays are small fry. Almost insulting. We do our thing when and where we can, and count on the general blindness of our countrymen to keep us well hidden in our closets. And in general, we do succeed. Oh, by the time you are a big fish, it is so necessary to be well and truly closeted, the light of day cannot surprise your closet. Survival of the fittest, my dear.

Ask me…! We do succeed, because, apparently, after making the headlines continuously for more than 3 months, we seem to have gone back to ‘normal’. Oh, there are more cases of blackmail, extortion and arrests than usual. And I sincerely hope it will not happen to me… and pray that it happens to someone else (I am human), but life is in its own rut. Frankly, life is hard. Where I will get the next … does not matter so much if I am very hungry, and I do have to work!

But I digress.

The witch hunt turned inwards. Not content with attacking and imprisoning us small fry, gay Ugandans, it turned to the ‘enemies’ of Ssempa and Co. The other pastors. Pastor Wars. It is very easy. Just accuse one of the big one… Sodomy.

Incredibly entertaining. Evening after evening, a new episode of this soap opera is written. Main actors, Ssempa and co, a few other ‘attendant’ figures, on the periphery.

I have written before that Ssempa is markedly free of the burden of intelligence. Oh, he is charismatic, and single mindedly ‘anti-gay-activist’. But he is remarkably devoid of intelligence. This holy crusader has turned inwards, and is busy tearing into his own denomination. Eviscerating the body to spite the nose. And it is bloody!

Its all about one big time pastor. Robert Kayanja. He has been accused of the big deed. Sodomy. The guy is connected. In real time politics. And he is powerful. Really powerful, all the way to State House.

But with power comes envy, and jealousy. And vulnerability.

And some very nice self serving people get to tear down the big fish. All in the name of ‘god and country’ as Georgina has been saying (oh, on that, have you got Georgina’s account for donations for the anti-gay fight? Quick and donate…!). Kayanja is supposed to be gay. He is fighting the allegations. And, suddenly, accusers are crawling out of the very woodwork. Vultures, circling. Sensing a big, belly flop, exposing the underside.

Ssempa and Co are very busy tearing down the big fish in the Ugandan Pentecostal waters. Think of the US Catholic church, embroiled in the paedophile cases. And this time it is the princes of the church, bishops earnestly tearing into one another, all in the name of ..god, did I say?

It is positively hilarious.

Oh, why should I laugh? Cause I am amused. In conversation with one dude last night, guy told me that these anti-gays are just plain demented. We are, and will continue to be. Hitler tried to wipe us out, and failed. Will Ssempa succeed?

Just think how lovely Ssempa’s denomination looks like now….!

And that fight, ugly as it is, is exposing Ssempa and co. Don’t think they mind- the guys are too oblivious of basic logic. But then, who is to quarrel with that? Me, I am too happy that the guns are turned inwards. However the controversy is resolved, I will definitely be a winner! The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Even when they are busy hitting out at themselves. Incredibly, un-resistibly, breathtaking. The sight, the feel, the newspapers these days!

By the way, talking of allegations, I have always been niggled by my gaydar near Dear Martin Ssempa. Oh, I have no ‘proof’. But seems so many kuchus here have this thought that when I am told that he cruises gay bars outside the country, I feel hopeful.

Ah, I don’t out people, not at all. But with Ssempa, I will lovingly make that exception. If anyone out there has any knowledge of dear Martin in any ‘compromising’ situations, please send me a hint. All in the name of god and country of course. Nothing malicious, I assure you.

Consequences

Coming home today, a friend told me of a curious story. He had got a call from George Oundo, aka Georgina. Guy wanted money- if he was not to ‘out’ him.

The friend cursed Georgina away.

And, on returning home from work, he found his domestic help with a strange story. The help was visited by Red Pepper people. They know he has a story about his boss, he was informed. And they were ready to pay well for the story. Which story? The boss’s (homo)sexual escapades.

Georgina, good Christian as he is, (he says he is doing the outing etc for God and Country), has a lucrative side line. Blackmail.

He has blackmailed many. And continues- I have failed to figure out what he is after.

But, besides the blackmail, there is a lot of fear.

Remember the guys in Mbale? The couple that was arrested for being amorous. They are still in jail. On remand, almost a month since the arrests. There is literally no case against them. But public opinion, and politics.

There is a sadder case in Mukono. A seventeen year old was sentenced to life imprisonment, because he had gay sex. Life imprisonment in Uganda means exactly that. No parole. No time out. Life in prison. The boy can only appeal that sentence.

There is another case, in Entebbe. And others.

Suddenly, prison is becoming something that anyone suspected of being gay gets rail roaded to. Doesn’t matter that you may not be gay. Or you may not be guilty. Fact is, us seasoned gay people are kind of too suspicious to be caught in the act. But damn!

I am just thinking of Stephen Langa, that nice Christian man, doing his round on the fm stations, complaining that homosexuals were not being arrested. Well, we are being arrested. And sentenced, to life in prison.

Guy visited me yesterday. His name, his pic was published. He cannot sleep at his house. His LC chairman advised him that residents will lynch him. And a friend that was staying at his house was beaten up. Because of suspicion that he is gay.

He was suicidal. Where is this going to end?

Father Musaala, his career is in tatters. Until he can ‘prove’ that he is not homosexual. His rivals must be happy about that- they did destroy this pretender to the love of god, didn’t they? 

By the way, in the same red rug issue in which people were outed was a pornographic 'confession' from dear Georgina. He detailed how he was a wife to a 'popular priest' for over a year, for some money... Didnt require an Einstein to figure out who the 'popular priest' was supposed to be.

All lovers of homosexuals, (or any who can pretend) have to affirm their heterosexuality. Bishop Ssenyonjo, that venerable granddad has to begin his defence of us by asserting that he is not gay. He must be, after all, Georgina ‘outed’ him.

But the one thing which amused me about this hysteria was the Pastor Kayanja saga. Apparently, his pastor rivals could not get someone like Georgina to accuse him. So, they are offering money for the confessions. Kayanja is a very influential man. Politically very well connected (which in a way makes him vulnerable!). He found the need to make the accusations New Vision headlines. And then to go to Red Pepper, of all papers! Apparently, his detractors complain that he is not anti-gay enough. That is why they say he must be gay, because he is not anti-gay enough. (The headline in the red rug was Pastor Kayanja reveals his homo history! but like much that that rug writes about, the story was miles away from the headlines.  Poor Kayanja!)

I swear, I am not lying. Most of these things are documented, by the Red Pepper, and its sister anti-gay publication, the New Vision.

Actually, it is early days.

Uganda has been homophobic. But not above many other countries in Africa. What started as an anti-gay, Christian seminar to deal with the homosexual agenda has morphed into some tears of pain for many of us. And it is not yet finished.

Where will it end?

Another Homosexual Pastor?

UPDATE:

This was disturbing me. Couldnt lay a finger on what exactly it was that is not healthy. Got it now. They are perfoming a withch hunt. And the scare word is 'homosexual'

Father Musaala is (or is not) homosexual… Seems the jury is out on that.

But a comedy is ongoing amongst the Pentecostal pastors in Uganda.

I think it was Thursday that I heard the rumour about an accusation leveled against Pastor Kayanja, another of the mega church pastors. I dismissed it. Was kind of too bizarre. Too way out there. For some reason, every enemy Pentecostal pastor is supposed to be homosexual. Don’t, or cant figure out the logic of that. Actually, I think it is the fact that they (the Pentecostals) have built up homosexuality to be the ultimate sin that one can commit. And, with the infighting between these churches, accusing one another of being homosexual is the ultimate. Especially if it sticks.

Oh, we real homosexuals are just collateral damage.

Anyway, Thursday I heard the bizarre story that Kayanja was accused. Monday it is in the New Vision. Front page.

Take time to read and laugh. But these things are pretty serious.

And, before I forget, the Red rug headlines a story from George Oundo that we homosexuals want to kill the poor lad. Apparently, we are not happy at him ripping apart our closets. Don’t really understand what Oundo is about. I suspect that the guy is just plain crazy. Or just loves the attention!

CID probes kidnap of Kayanja’s aide     

Row deepens among city’s top Pentecostal pastors

The Police are investigating the alleged kidnap and torture of Chris Muwonge, the personal aide of Pastor Robert Kayanja of Rubaga Miracle Centre, in what seems a deepening row between rival Pentecostal (Born Again) churches.

Muwonge testified before the press yesterday that he had been abducted by armed men on the morning of April 18, while returning from overnight prayers, and held for five days.

“As I was picking a boda boda to go home, someone called me by name and said I had dropped my money. When I looked back, the man told me to enter a parked car. If I did not, he warned, the man in the car would shoot me,” the 27-year-old told journalists at the Miracle Centre church.

He said a gun was pointed at him as he entered the car; he was blindfolded and driven away. When the blindfold was removed, Muwonge noted, he was in a bathroom with a TV camera before him.

 

“My captors beat me while ordering me to look into the camera and testify that Pastor Kayanja had been sodomising boys. I refused. They promised me $100,000 (sh200m) and pocket money amounting to $20,000 (sh40m). They said they could fly me to any country of my choice.”

Muwonge said he was eventually dumped outside Kayanja’s residence in Kawuku-Gaba on Thursday. His head was covered in a plastic bag and his hands were trussed behind his back.

He was discovered by area residents who at first thought he was dead. They alerted Pastor Kayanja’s housekeeper, who notified her boss. Kayanja called the Police who rushed him to International Hospital Kampala for treatment.

The Police spokesperson, Judith Nabakooba, said they were investigating the incident. “We are taking this very seriously given that it may have security implications. We need to get to the bottom of the matter,” she told The New Vision.

Loving the Sinner

This is the kind of love that this sinner would rather do without. The love of Ssempa, Buturo, Langa, Orombi, and various others. Christians, who hate the sin of homosexuality, but love us homosexuals.

Matter of fact, I have been set off by some anonymous commentor on the blog. He or she was supporting Buturo, that he is against the ‘spread of homosexuality’ but not homosexuals. Poor Christian, needing to disguise hate for love.

I think it is the bare faced hypocrisy that touches me. I don’t mind a person saying he hates me. Me, as in a homosexual. I am what I am. Someone may say that he hates me because I am black or a nigger. I will shrug it off. I don’t love everybody. Hell, I am also prone to prejudice!

But when someone puts a knife in me, and starts splitting hairs on how the hate that he or she shows is in truth love, I see red.

Ok, fact is, I see it as a chance to turn that knife into his or her face and twist it, a little, and more than a little! Ssempa, the anti-gay Ssempa who loves us so much that he believes we should get HIV…! Why? Because, if, God forbid, we were allowed to have the knowledge to stop ourselves from getting HIV we would just be ‘promoting homosexuality’. And you know what, the sin of promoting homosexuality is so heinious that it is important for all Christians to prevent others from commiting it. It is worse than making sure that fellow human beings get HIV because they are homosexuals. Poor Christians indeed! I thought he had stopped reasoning like that, but apparently he is continuing... The 'representative' of some American Right activists...!

I can quote the number of times, the vitriol that has poured out of the mouth of Minister for Ethics and Integrity in Uganda, Nsaba Buturo. He wants us out of the country, we are worse than animals, immoral, etc, etc. The words that pour out of the gentleman’s mouth, the hate speech is so un-Christian that many people are shocked that he says all ‘in the name of Jesus’! But he does, all in the name of Jesus.

See, in Uganda, nothing is too bad for homosexuals.

Listening to Stephen Langa and his friends from America, I was stuck by how hate filled this can all be. They have one premise. Homosexuality and homosexuals must be evil. Starting from they manufacture lies, half truths, conspiracy theories, and others. All of these are ‘proof’ that homosexuals are evil. I am galled by the people who go ahead and believe it all. Why do they believe? Because homosexuals are evil. So, what is there not to believe?

Someone stated in a comment that although in the US, homosexuals are 5% of the population, they commit 30% of the child abuse. Is it true?

I don’t know the figures on child abuse in the US, but when I see that kind of assertion, I immediately suspect that it is not true. But, someone does believe it. And why do they? Why do they believe that kind of thing? Because they have to. They have this image of me the homosexual as so evil that anything that is bad is easily blamed on me. Their hate has to be justified. They cannot believe that a homosexual cannot be good. No. Never. Why not? Because he or she is a homosexual!

Sad, isn’t it?

George Oundo, and his ex-gay friends, have been going around 'outing' people on radio and television in Uganda. They did it under the good Christian help of Ssempa, and Langa, and the 'Family Life Network'. Listening to Oundo, you would be struck by how much venom and hate he was spitting, frothing against his gay friends. Was that love? No. It was poison. Hate. But this was a 'young christian' who was being encouraged in his new expression of love to 'out' gay people. Listening to him, I wondered how Ssempa and Langa could even associate with this naked hate. It does mean something to trumpet that someone is Christian, doesnt it? Well, maybe it does.

But why do Christians hate us so much?

See, I told you that I am also subject to prejudices. But, forgive me. It is Christians who are persecuting me. I ask to be left in peace, they throw stones and hammers, and bibles and other things. The hate speech that is coming out of their mouth is in the name of their being Christians. Am I wrong to paint all Christians with the same tar brush?

There are Christians who are gay. (Course, Orombi does not believe that Gene Robinson is a Christian. But that is an internal matter for them, and I don’t belong to that club… What I know is that both are Christians…!) And there are others who take it upon themselves to attack the hate speech that the Ssempa’s preach. Like Desmond Tutu.

Sadly, it is a human failing, choosing out a small, minority group that can be bullied and hated and thrown to the lions. We always forget, that they are also humans. It is by an active act of thought that we root out this kind of prejudice. That we make it irrelevant. Or, like I do, we start wondering why others don’t see what we see!

NEW TWIST ON OUNDO’S ANTI-GAY CONFESSION

UGANDA – 30 March 2009: A confession by George Oundo and his claim that he has abandoned homosexuality seems to be nothing more than him trying to get back at the LGBTI movement in Uganda since he accuses the leaders of Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG) of neglecting him and his friend when they were in need.

The outraged Oundo has accused the LGBTI movement in Uganda of lack of transparency, greed and hypocrisy in their work.

He said that things started to go wrong after Victor Mukasa left SMUG and that the present leaders misuse the money that could be used to look after other activists.

“Even though they put us at a hotel after we were arrested, after that the leaders of SMUG neglected us. They left me and Brenda at a station in Matunge with nowhere to go.”

He also said that when he tried to talk to the LGBTI movement in Uganda about his grievances, people ignored him.

Oundo also said that the other eight men who confessed are people who also have grievances with the LGBTI movement in Uganda.

Asked whether it is true that he has abandoned homosexuality and whether his confession was not just a way of getting back at the LGBTI movement in Uganda Oundo said “No one can change someone when the heart is still there.”

Oundo is one of the nine men who have confessed to recruiting school boys into homosexuality in Uganda.

He shocked parents and the LGBTI community in Uganda when he said that he used to supply pornographic materials in a form of books and compact discs, showing homosexuality to young boys in many schools as part of a programme to promote the practice in Ugandan schools, something that the Ugandan LGBTI movement denies any knowledge of.

While Oundo announced that he is now a born again Christian who has abandoned homosexuality, he continues to baffle the LGBTI community when he says he is still an LGBTI activist at heart and that “even now living like a man is very difficult because of what I am.”

Frank Mugisha, Chairperson of SMUG said that George Oundo expected too much from the LGBTI movement.

“It is bad that he is using his sexual orientation for selfish gains. When his demands were not met by the LGBTI community, he sought a new tactic. We believe he has not changed he is still gay and will always be, it is a matter of time before we will all find out that he is lying”, Mugisha concluded.

 

What if- I lose my job?

George Oundo and the FLN are naming names. fm stations. Press conferences, etc, etc.

Things have been pretty good this year, job wise. But there is a good possibility that I am on the way to being outed.

I am gay. And I am one of the leaders. And it seems the Stephen Langa juggernaut is rolling in that direction. Being outed is of course a nightmare. Somehow, I cannot take back my being gay… some people seem to think it is so easy. If you may be outed, why not pay that price and deny being gay? Why not humble myself and shamefacedly ‘come to Christ’ and say I am no longer gay? I will be given a table near Langa and Ssempa. I will be feted, as one of the chief apostates saved. I can continue my life on a downlow. They don’t need to know, do they?

I am gay, and proud. Putting a foot out of my closet, however microscopically I have done, is something which I will not reverse.

Society? I will, can and throw the finger. Pretty independent.

Clan? They are a problem. But to date, they seem reconciled to leaving me alone. Will that last?

So, what if I am outed? The job matters. Of course. It matters a lot.

Multi-job person that I am, I am confortable with some of my employers. They did stand by me the first time…! But that was before I was accused and taken to be guilty of ‘recruitment’. My defense holds not true. After all, I am gay. So I cannot speak the truth, right?

Clients. The people that Langa is calling on, whose ire he has raised are being told to imagine what it would be like to be ministered to by a big, bad homosexual like me. And then he is telling them where we work. One guy, a headmaster, was accused of sodomizing children. On national TV. The New Vision dared not print his name. Apparently it has been in the works for a long time, that part of the agenda. And since some of us are politicians, doctors, teachers, lawyers, etc, we are going to be exposed. The huge popular righteous anger of the populace is going to be poured on these homosexual individuals.

Of course, being homosexuals, we cannot be fruitful in any vocation. That is a clear cut thing. If we are doctors, or lawyers, it is clear we must be ostracized and cast out, all in the name of Jesus and family values.

Many know who I am, in my many disguises. So, it is something that I have to think about, rationally. What if I can no longer work?

Sigh....!

Will have to cross that bridge when I get to it. Some people do tell me that I am good at what I do, so, maybe it will survive the revelation that I am a homosexual. But, the lingering question, what if I lose…!

Hey, the Monitor did publish MY letter. Remember the conversation I once had with them? I am tempted to ask what has changed...  But gift horses are not to be questioned.

As a homosexual, I am very concerned about the allegations made by Mr George Oundo and the Family Life Network (FLN) about gay Ugandans. Mr Oundo has confessed to recruiting children, which is a very serious matter that the police should follow up.

I am gay but I have never engaged in recruiting children into homosexuality. Mr Oundo’s allegation that he has been recruiting children is something I find simply ridiculous because it isn’t possible to change one’s sexual orientation. Are straight people recruited into being straight? In the same way, homosexuals are not ‘recruited’.

Oundo and FLN allege that huge amounts of money are being spent on ‘recruitment’ in schools and universities. From the amounts quoted, I think gay organisations would be the biggest, strongest organisations in Uganda. They would be donors! Being gay may make be different but I am not evil.

OUNDO WON’T STOP GAY RIGHTS STRUGGLE, ACTIVISTS VOW

UGANDA – 25 March 2008: The gay community in Uganda says that a confession by George Oundo, that he recruited school children as part of a programme to promote the practice in Ugandan schools, is the first step of a strategy by anti-gay groups to destroy the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) movement in that country.

 

This community believes that Oundo has been “compromised” by Family Life Network (FLN), which organised an anti-gay conference in Uganda recently, to spread false rumours about the movement, as part of FLN and Uganda Joint Christian Council’s campaign to curb homosexuality in higher education institutions.

 

In an article by Paul Kiwuuwa of Uganda’s New Vision on 23 March, George Oundo told parents that funders gave him “much money” and offered him training abroad so that he could recruit school children into homosexuality.

 

He also claimed to have supplied pornographic materials in a form of books and compact discs, showing homosexuality, to young boys in many Ugandan schools.

 

“I met George in 2007 at the World Social Forum in Nairobi and he introduced himself to me as Georgina, the ‘the young girl’”, Victor Mukasa, whom, in his confession, Oundo said initiated him to homosexuality at the age of 12, revealed.

 

Mukasa, an LGBTI human rights defender who presently works for International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) added that Oundo played an activist role and seemed dedicated to advancing LGBTI rights in Uganda.

 

“I have never understood how one can be recruited into another sexual orientation and I was not aware that George was recruiting the youth into homosexuality. Perhaps it was his individual agenda but definitely not that of the gay rights movement in Uganda”, Mukasa said.

 

Meanwhile Frank Mugisha, Chairperson of Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG) said Oundo might be confusing seduction with recruitment in his confession statement.

 

“If he was seducing straight men into being his partners, he was pushing his individual agenda as Georgina, not as part of SMUG and he must not confuse seduction with recruitment”, Mugisha said.

 

He added that he met Oundo in 2006 and that, at the time, Oundo was already a gay man.

 

“At the time he was homeless and the LGBTI community helped him sort out his rent because we felt he was part of the community. We did not know that he was pretending.”

 

“Even after I heard that he was compromised by anti gay groups, I asked him and he told me that people were telling lies about him, that he was a woman, will always be woman and will never change.”

 

Mugisha also dismissed allegations by Family Life Network, broadcast on Uganda’s local television station WBS, that SMUG received 1.2 Billion Ugandan Shillings from IGLHRC and other organisations in the UK to promote homosexuality in schools, as blatant lies.

 

Mukasa vowed that even though Oundo “has become another anti-gay activist”, he will not stop the struggle for gay rights in Uganda.

 

Several efforts to contact Oundo were unsuccessful as he let his phone ring.

Ugandan Parents speak out on homosexuality

Parents in Uganda have expressed concern over the increasing levels of homosexuality, defilement and sexual harassments of children.

The parents under the Family Life Network (FLN) says that information revealed from several reliable sources indicates that many children in schools are facing horror, frustration, mental and psychological torture for being cajoled into homosexuality.

FLN’s Executive Director, Langa Steven say that there are agents involved in recruiting children into homosexuality and lesbianism.

Langa says that these suspected groups take advantages children by using deception, manipulation and coercion.

Pastor Joseph Male who addressed a press conference in Kampala with Langa also says that findings show that immorality groups are recruiting children into homosexuality. He says these homosexual promoters hide behind human rights organization and claim to be protecting sex minorities Uganda.

Pastor Male claims that these groups spend about 2,000,000 per week to recruit university students into homosexuality and lesbianism.

Wataba David, a concerned parent in Kampala says that other effective tools used to break the resistance and defenses of children is pornography shown to potential victims

The parents condemned Amakula film festival for showing homosexual films to young children through their annual shows in the country.

The parents said they are going to write to the President Museveni showing their discontent at what they call the increasing immorality levels in the county so that the government can reverse the trend.

Bu some organizers have blamed the parents for persecuting children who are naturally transgender or attracted to people of the same sex. While pro gay activities argue that it is a natural phenomena, anti gay activists say homosexuality is an acquired behavior which promotes sexual unions against the order of nature. Homosexuality is illegal in Uganda.

Eight denounce homosexuality

EIGHT more men yesterday confessed involvement in homosexuality and gay activities, which they said they had abandoned. Speaking to journalists at the Grand Imperial Hotel in Kampala, the youthful men described homosexuality as abnormal and anti-Christian, and declared war against it.

 

The tough-talking men were accompanied by George Oundo, who earlier in the week denounced homosexuality and confessed recruiting school children into the practice.

 

“We have been involved in recruiting homosexuals, spreading the gospel of homosexuality, and we know the operations of homosexuals,” said 27-year-old Emma Matovu, who took to homosexuality 13 years ago. “We shall do all it takes to eliminate the practice in Uganda.”

 

Matovu, who said he abandoned the practice two weeks ago, asserted: “Homosexuality is dangerous and dehumanising but is growing fast in Uganda.”

 

He urged the Government and all concerned citizens to “wake up now before this abnormal practice is made to appear normal as the case has been in the West”.

 

Another former homosexual, Charles Asiimwe, said the practice had spread to government offices, churches, schools and hotels. “Many business moguls are involved,” Asiimwe said.

 

Oundo said the eight men would fight the vice because they were victims with a tormenting experience.

 

“We shall expose those who refuse to abandon the practice and we shall not be intimidated because we are protected by Jesus,” he asserted. “We know their operations, including a restaurant in the city centre where homosexuals wait for clients from nearby hotels.”

 

He urged his former partners to abandon the practice, saying Uganda should become a role model in fighting the “barbarism”.

 

He called on Juliet Mukasa, the head of the Sexual Minorities in Uganda (SMUG), Bishop Christopher Ssenyonjo, a gay rights activist and headmaster Kisule (other name withheld) to abandon the practice.

 

SMUG brings together lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender and intersex activists in Uganda.

 

Addressing the press conference, Family Life Network chief Stephen Langa read a statement from parents and concerned citizens, urging the Government to establish a probe to assess the prevalence of homosexuality in Uganda.

 

“We want a confidential platform to be provided for abused children to speak out without being stigmatised,” the parents suggested.

 

Langa said his group would move around the country convincing parents to sign a petition to be handed to the President and Parliament on April 7. He said the petition will demand urgent steps to be taken against homosexuality in Uganda.
