In the name of God.

Saw this at SGL's Universe, and I was not amused. I know Ssempa, and Orombi in Uganda preach the same kind of gospel, but wow! Kind of hits one in the face how much freedom to hate a person can claim in the name of religion.

A few names immediately spring to mind. Osama bin Laden being the most notorious one.

Just wonder whether this is where my poor country is headed.

Here is the article.

Australian bumper sticker threatens gays with death

"Gay Rights? Under God's law the only rights gays have is the right to die." Lev 20:13

Did I hear you ask where Ssempa preaches the same gospel? Well, I will spring the quote.

"Our previous experience showed us that bringing homosexuals into campaigns against HIV only gives them a chance to propagate their illegal and unnatural acts."

From the Monitor.

In my book, thinking that I should get HIV in the name of your morality is not very far from thinking I should die, in the name of your morality. Sick Christians.

A prayer for those who hate me in the name of religion; May their gods help them. I as a homosexual have proven resilient over the years.

------

Is that reaction, err, too hate filled?

Bitter, defiant, in your face. And of course the all out challenge to Christians.

Reminds me of what I used to be. Bitter, angry, and lashing out at any chance I got. At Christians, and Christianity.

Anger has its purposes. Ingrained as homophobia can be, we learn to hate ourselves for what we are. The anger helps us to seize control of the moral upper ground. Even when it is not based on accurate facts. Helps to kind of flush out the venom.

But anger is not something to use so liberally. It corrodes and corrupts one's being.

Actually, those poor Christians, Ssempa, and the guy who believes my only right is to be stoned because I am gay, well, they are to be pitied.

They are in a house full of treasures. And their eyes are so closed to it that they can genuinely see none of the good things of love that that house has.

Poor Ssempa. And Orombi, and Nsaba Buturo. And of course, the sheep that follow them; Kimbowa, and all the others. Poor christians.

And poor GUG.
Because even if you claim to have let go of the anger and bitterness.
It's still very evidently there. and permeates each of your religion-related posts.

You have just refined your means of lashing out. :)

For one minute I'm not going to take the rap for disliking, loathing and snarling at these biggoted Christians...it's not my responsibility to "understand" what they are not forced to see in themselves...it's my responsibility to say NO to their fear/hate-mongering when possible, when "prudent" (I'm not on a suicide mission or intending to be heroic)...it's my responsibility to hold up a mirror to their idiot face(s)...I particularly think Orombi is disgusting because he USES his position in the Ugandan/Anglican Church and his Christian faith to torment/persecute others...and he's a thief...ask anyone in Los Angeles (soon to be judged by the California Supreme Court)...and he's a manipulative sneak.

I believe people who preach fear/hate against LGBT people are accessories to crimes of hate...triply disgusting when one is a Bishop.

I just came across your blog. For a country(Uganda)that im in love with, and commited to helping it's children receieve an education, it's a shame how ugly and disgusting it is when it comes to LGBT issues, and how the government treats gay people.

[grumble, grumble]

trust sisters to point out incovenient truths.

Oh yes, I am angry sis. I am angry, and I love that anger, because it will make me remember that things are not ok.

Anger is good, that is why I am embracing it. I am no angel. But I also understand its limitations...

So, my dear, I will just make sure that your pity is misplaced, while the one I shower on Ssempa is as truthful as I can make it, uh? Will that be a better deal?

And, pity is the one extraordinary thing which can make me work out my anger. If I in truth pity them, I will be less likely to turn to destructive anger.

Poor Ssempa. Getting pity from GayUganda the Saint.

Hilarious, isnt it?

Leornado, those guys are to be pitied!!!!!!!!

Sounds good and nice, huh? Though the pity should not dis-arm us from showing that they are so utterly and destructively wrong.

Kate, you are very welcome.

I have served this up for those malicious bigoted Christians who are enthralled by what gay people have to say and who just cant keep away from this blog...

"God is love. Where there is love, there can be no hate! This is to all our ‘hating’ Christians.

1. There is no word for homosexuality in the original, ancient Hebrew text. The Bible makes NO reference to homosexuals as we know them today, nor as they exist in every living species.
From 'The Church and the Homosexual': “Malakoi and arsenokotai are not synonymous with homosexual. The former were simply debauched individuals, and the latter were probably male prostitutes or those given to anal intercourse, which is not necessarily or exclusively homosexual activity.”
From The Good Book: “The King James version of the 1611 text makes no mention of homosexuality or any of its cognates. The first use of the term in an English bible is to be found in the Revised Standard of 1946.”

2. The story of Sodom and Gomorrah has NOTHING to do with homosexuality. You will not even find the word “homosexual” in any version of this text. The angels came to destroy the city BEFORE they met the evil mob. Lot offers his virgin daughters to that same mob. Later, these same girls rape Lot. Lot’s wife was destroyed. If this story condemns homosexuality, then it also condones incest and gang rape. And, Lot’s wife was a lesbian. NONE of which is true.
From The Good Book: “The Hebrew verb “to know” is rarely used in a sexual sense. It occurs 943 times in the Old Testament and in only 10 of those does it have the sense of carnal knowledge. Sodom is referred to throughout the Old Testament as a place of wickedness and is synonymous with it. But, nowhere does it state that homosexuality was the wickedness in question…Sodomite refers almost exclusively to a male prostitute…to say that homosexual conduct is wrong because the Bible says it is, is not to answer, but to dismiss the question….Sex can be productive without being reproductive. Homosexual rape is never to be condoned. It is indeed, like heterosexual rape, an abomination before God. David’s sin of adultery with Bathsheba does not make all heterosexual expressions sinful!”
From The Bible, Ezekiel 16:48-50: “The Lord says ‘Your sister Sodom’s sins were pride and laziness and too much food. While the poor and needy suffered outside her door, she insolently worshipped many idols as I watched. Therefore, I crushed her.’”
From 'What the Bible Really Says About Homosexuality': “The sin of Sodom was abuse and offence to strangers-insult to the traveller, inhospitality to the needy. The story is no more about sex than it is about pounding on someone’s front door. The Bible offers NO valid conclusion whatsoever about homosexuality.”

3. Leviticus, Romans, and Corinthians all refer to “unnatural sex” for HETEROSEXUALS. It is NATURAL for HOMOSEXUALS to engage in homosexual sex. (Also see WHAT IS REAL SEX herein.) Yet, heterosexuals sin daily as gay prostitutes, porno film stars, lewd voyeurs, prison rapists, etc….
From The Good Book: “In Romans…Paul did not discuss gay persons but heterosexual people who performed homosexual acts. To suggest that Paul’s references to excesses of sexual indulgence, involving homosexual behaviour, are indicative of a general position in opposition to same-sex eroticism, is as unfounded as arguing that his condemnation of drunkeness implies opposition to the drinking of wine. In Corinthians 1:7, Paul discusses the conjugal relations that ought to obtain between christian husbands and wives. For those whom celibacy was too high a price, he issued his famous edict that it was ‘better to marry than to burn’- not in hell. But with desire for the satisfaction of sex. Nowhere does he mention that the sole purpose of such conjugality is the procreation of children.”

4. In Levitcus, homosexuality is an abomination not because it is inherently evil, but because the Gentiles do it. It is, therefore, ritually impure.
From 'What The Bible Really Says About Homosexuality': “Leviticus condemns sex as a religious crime of idolatry-not as a sexual offence. Romans suggest that sex acts have no ethical significance whatsoever. Corinthians and Timothy object to specific forms of male prostitution. These books do not refer to homosexuality. They make a general condemnation of moral looseness, lewd, lustful, and lascivious behaviour.”

5. “Love Thy Neighbour” is a commandment. For the record, millions of your neighbours are homosexuals.

6. The Bible is written by human men. They are not God. They never quote God or Jesus as saying ANYTHING about homosexuals. Jesus makes only one statement that can even be remotely viewed as a reference to homosexuality.
Matthew 19:12: “Jesus said ‘Some are born without the ability to marry.’”

7. God is love. Homosexuals are consenting adults who love each other. Gay love is invisible to ‘hating’ Christians. They see only gay sex. They hunt it down, exclusively, obscenely, curiously, and passionately. Many ‘hating’ Christians are homosexuals. They will love us when they learn to love themselves.

8. God loves EVERYONE who is GOOD. Some of the best persons in the world are homosexuals. From Dr. Cornel West, in the film “All God’s Children”:
“If I have one word for fellow Christians, I would ask them to keep their eyes on the love of Jesus, and to not confuse the blood at Calvary with the soda of homophobia. Soda is thin and shallow and it is linked to scapegoating…and trashing other people…But the blood, as thick as it is, is open enough for everybody.”

9. There are thousands of REAL SINS in the Bible that ‘hating’ Christians ignore/commit. Selective smoke and blasphemous mirrors will never save their souls or mask their hypocrisy. Unlike the misinterpretations and exaggerations regarding homosexuality, the Bible makes SPECIFIC references to many actual sins that ‘hating’ Christians habitually ignore. (See NUMEROUS biblical references to adultery, lying, judging, dietary laws, gossiping, infidelity, disrespecting authority, betraying family etc….)

10. The Bible is not a primer for hatred. The Bible is “the good book”. ‘Hating’ Christians use it exclusively as an evil bat; one they use exclusively to bash the skulls of homosexuals.”

[gravely]

that is a sermon!

Thanks, at least I know that there are some Christians who, well, arent to pitied

I am amused.

People call Christians all kinds of names "bigots", "haters", "fools". Pastor Ssempa and Rev Luke Orombi are popular targets for the small homosexual community in Uganda.

You cannot blame Jesus Christ for what His people say. True; that quote is in the Bible about homos being punished with death because well, it is abominable because God made man and woman for each other.

Nonetheless, Jesus comes to declare freedom from that prison. He loves, doesn't hate.

Problem is many gays think He is okay with their condition. He isn't. He wants them to come and then work on changing them.

I am surprised you guys are saying all these things about Ssempa and Orombi. Isn't that the same hate crime you're saying they are guilty of?

Anyway, God loves homos but doesn't want them to remain that way. Homosexuality is a lie of the enemy, once he makes you believe that it is genetic/ acceptable then you drown out that voice telling you to quit.

I think homosexuality is a bad desire. It is evident in man's anatomy. I understand homosexuals have sex through the anus which is meant totally for something else. Other than that, procreation is impossible.

Anyway, you may hate me coz i'm preaching. sorry. Instead of fighting the shepherd, embrace him lest the wolf devours you.

How unclear is this verse?

Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another; males with males working out shamefulness, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was fitting for their error.

No, pitying people like Ssempa is useless. He is on the right track. You on the other hand refuse to give in, your pride makes you look right...only time will tell.

Jesus loves but at judgement day, His wrath will be revealed.

Princess said...

But Nev. Your analysis poses one very serious flaw.
You work from the premise that everyone believes what the Bible has to say.
Go on, quote the verse. But what good will it do me if I don't believe its 'truth'?

gayuganda said...

Hmmmmmmm!

Nevender, I dont want to go into the rant of not being a christian.

Why should I be, with all that love that you have...

Ok, I must admit that I have been over at your blog. I am not Shakespeare, do you know that dude wrote the most amazing poetry about his love for another man?

Errr, will you take it badly if I comment that you look cute? It is a compliment, but you might hit the roof!

Unknown said...

GUG, it is common knowledge what ostriches do in the face of danger; they bury their faces. Doesn't take the reality away.

Well Shakespeare is Shakespeare. He won't change God's nature.

I see futility in these discussions cause if God ain't the basis then this is vain.

Such a compliment coming from you... hahahaha

I actually smiled.

gayuganda said...

Hi Nevender.

You suprise me. By the coolness of your response. I was, in truth, expecting you to come to me spouting bible verses. And of course my automatic answer would have been, 'I dont believe'. Then I would have watched you spatter in annoyed indignation for an answer!

Great. You may actually be worth debating. I warn you, I will not spare the hard questions! I dont, so, if you wanna debate, be sure that your faith, and not my lack of it, maybe the issue on line. I will lay siege to it.

By the way, that famed Ostritch saying, do you know that it is actually not true? Oh, it is a fallacy, like so many other things. Prove me wrong, if you can!

And, if I say you look cute, well, I do mean it. Thanks for the laugh of appreciation, I assume.
