Hey, if you thought that Uganda’s precious Anti-Homosexuality Act, 2023 would lift the burden of searching out and reporting homosexuals, better think again.
There is a duty to report homosexuals.
Yes, it is parsed. Meaning that it is ‘disguised’ in a way. BUT, only lawyers are explicitly exempt from reporting homosexuals. Beware, parents, neighbours, relatives, health care givers and counsellors that we might burden with that knowledge.
It is all set out in the law, the Anti-Homosexuality Act, 2023, of the Republic of Uganda
14. Duty to report acts of homosexuality
(1) A person who knows or has reasonable suspicion that a person has committed or intends to commit the offence of homosexuality or any other offence under this Act, shall report the matter to police for appropriate action.
Curiously, though the mandate to report is in the law, no punishment for not reporting is stated directly, except if it assumed a child is involved.
Only lawyers (advocates) are
specifically protected.
Fact, medics and other health care workers, please, don’t take for granted you
being protected (privileged) from not reporting. Your homosexual patients and
clients are such a danger to society that you might find yourself in prison,
for not having reported them, to police.
The reporter is protected under Ugandan law. Indeed. You prime and proper responsibility to report homosexuals in Uganda is a protected privilege!
(4) A person who makes a report referred to in this section shall be treated as a whistle-blower in accordance with the Whistleblowers’ Protection Act, 2010 and shall be protected from victimisation.
Don’t worry. I am not going to
make it a routine to report all the times that i have sex here…,
It would be exhausting…, and i don’t know whether i really want to turn the
blog into a porn generating entity!
But, I am going to have sex. Tell Ssempa and other anti-gay activists. I am going to have beautiful, wonderful sex. Theirs the duty to report. They have the law, let them get to it!
