California state senator who opposed gay rights announces he is homosexual

Here is part of the reason I do think that dear Pastor Martin Ssempa is a homosexual who is dealing badly with his sexual orientation.

Of course I feel sorry for him. But, that does not excuse his utter dishonesty, the lies, the persecution of other gay people because we have accepted OUR sexuality.

Read the article below. And be enlightened.

Roy Ashburn, a California state senator who has staunchly opposed gay rights has announced that he is homosexual.

Mr Ashburn, a conservative Republican, came out in an interview with KERN radio.
His pronouncement ends days of speculation following his arrest last week for driving under the influence of alchohol.

Mr Ashburn said he felt compelled to address rumours that he had visited a gay nightclub near the Capitol before his arrest.

"I am gay ... those are the words that have been so difficult for me for so long," Ashburn told conservative talk show host Inga Barks.

The 55-year-old father of four said he had tried to keep his personal life separate from his professional life until his March 3 arrest.

"When I crossed the line and broke the law and put people at risk, that's different, and I do owe people an explanation," he said.

Ashburn was arrested after he was spotted driving erratically near the Capitol, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The next day, reports surfaced that he had left Faces, a gay nightclub, with an unidentified man in the passenger seat of his Senate-owned vehicle.

"The best way to handle that is to be truthful and to say to my constituents and all who care that I am gay," he said. "But I don't think it's something that has affected, nor will it affect, how I do my job."

Over 14 years in office, Ashburn has voted against a number of gay rights measures, including efforts to expand anti-discrimination laws and recognise out-of-state gay marriages.

Last year, he opposed a bill to establish a day of recognition to honour the murdered gay rights activist Harvey Milk.

In the radio interview, Ashburn said he is drawing on his Christian faith, and he asked people to pray for him.

He said he does not plan to run for any public office after his term ends later this year.

I wonder, if Ssempa ever comes out as homosexual [certainly NOT gay], will I ever feel it in my heart to forgive him?

I doubt it. But then, I am not a Christian.

And, of course it will not stop me hitting, and hitting out hard at him. I dont like murderous hypocrites. He, [ahem] is what he would be.

But, as of now, like Richard Cohen, he is a 'happy, heterosexual man'- who loves showing gay porn...!

“Family Values” California state senator representing Kern County, Republican Roy Ashburn (guess how he votes on gay issues?), goes to a gay bar near the Capital, picks up a scantily clad buddy, gets drunk, drives and receives a DUI. In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over small portions of the republican party of “birthers, baggers and blowhards” (people who love to push their beliefs on others while trying to take away rights of those they just hate) and that’s who they need to extract from their party if they real want to win. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”. They are good at “Follow the Leader”. They listen to their dullard leaders Beck, Hedgecock, Hannity, O’Reilly, Rush and Savage and the rest of the Blowhards. The world is complicated and most republicans (Hamiliton, Lincoln, Roosevelt) believe that we should use government a little to increase social mobility, now its about dancing around the claim that government is the problem. The sainted Reagan passed the biggest tax increase in American history and as a result federal employment increased, but facts are lost when mired in mysticism and superstition. Although most republicans are trying to distant themselves from this fringe they have a long way to go. I guess Ashburn is the first on the list “2010 Republican Summer of Love”. Remember last year list of “2009 Republican Summer of Love”: state assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), SC Board of Ed Chair, Kristin Maguire (AKA Bridget Keeney). Do I hear Tammy Wynette, “Stand By Your Man” playing in the background? I remember not so long ago that other Orange County song favorite, “Stand By Your Tan” (for Tan Nguyen). But that’s another Orange County fool.

Ashburn said his anti-gay votes reflected the will of those who elected him into office, and not his own convictions. He agreed to be a puppet?? And to condemn his gay brothers and sisters??

It's difficult to put this whole mess into perspective, buT when I measure my pity against the harm he's done to the advancement of gay rights a s human rights...I really do not like type of person, whether his name is Ashburn, or Ssempa.

My contempt for him and the religious nutters who created him may subside, but for now... I mostly pity his wife and children.

Just imagine if he'd been black; or Jewish; or a woman; doing this. His whole makeshift facade is laughable.

"Stinky" Ssempa would be, too, if he weren't trying to exterminate people like a latter-day Himmler.

It's admirable that he finally had the courage to admit his real orientation, and that is, homosexuality. He must of been really scared or confused to make such accusations, when he knew how he is, in fact.
